Overview
This recorded lecture provides an overview of how telehealth may be implemented in a dental sleep medicine practice. Dr. Cantwell provides a review of definitions, benefits to telemedicine and some of the available platforms and equipment. She also discusses staff roles, documentation, and some tips and tricks to help you and your patient have a successful visit.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this lecture, participants will be able to:
  • Review the benefits of using telemedicine to provide care; 
  • Describe how to implement a telemedicine program including recommended equipment, staff roles and documentation; and
  • Discuss tips and tricks and recommendations for your patients.

Dentists, chairside dental staff, and front desk staff involved in implementing telehealth into a dental sleep medicine practice.
Speaker Bio


Michelle Cantwell, DMD, is a graduate of Wilkes University, located in her hometown of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She attend-ed the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine and graduated in 1998. Upon graduation she completed a three-year residency in prosthodontics at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Cantwell received a U.S. Navy scholarship and served at Sewell's Point Dental Clinic, NDC Mid-Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia. She completed her active duty service as a Lieutenant Commander in 2004. Dr. Cantwell opened Cantwell Dental Group located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 2005. As her prosthodontic practice grew, she found it was becoming increasingly important to devote specific time and resources to the sleep medicine portion of her practice. In 2012 she opened the Center for Dental Sleep Medicine in Lancaster,  Pennsylvania to create a practice devoted solely to the management of her sleep medicine patients and became a Diplomate of the ABDSM in 2014. She currently lives in Lancaster, PA with her husband Steve and their five daughters.
