Overview
Identifying a multidisciplinary and collaborative dental-surgical team may increase outcomes for patients with anatomically compromised airways. This webinar will showcase new trends in combining orthognathic-orthodontic treatment options.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
  1. Understand new and trending options available for patients with compromised airways;
  2. Recognize patient candidates for orthognathic-orthodontic procedures; and
  3. Identify or attract a collaborative dental-surgical team.

Speaker Bio
Reza Movahed, DMD, FACS is a practicing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon serving the greater St. Louis region and patients worldwide. After receiving his Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, he completed prestigious intern and residency programs at Nova Southeastern University, and a fellowship specializing in TMJ and corrective jaw surgery to manage dentofacial deformities, temporomandibular joint disorders, and obstructive sleep apnea at Baylor University Medical Center. He then started his private practice, Movahed OMS, in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Movahed lectures worldwide and stays involved in research to advance the outcome of treatments. His appreciation for continuing education and advancement of his specialty, has led him to a position as Clinical Assistant Professor at Saint Louis University, Department of Orthodontics.  

 
Eric Phelps, DDS, MS is a UCLA trained board-certified orthodontist who has practiced in San Jose, California since 2003.  Along the journey of discovering that he has severe sleep apnea, Dr. Phelps added ‘Airway Education’ to his professional mission which led to the founding of Nor Cal Airway in 2018.  At Nor Cal Airway, Dr. Phelps focuses on helping patients with airway obstruction and sleep breathing disorders and the resultant muscle parafunction that often leads to TMJ dysfunction and chronic pain.  Dr. Phelps enjoys studying anatomy, especially the relationship between maxillary expansion and nasal airway volume.
