In order to fabricate an oral appliance, a “construction bite” must be provided to the laboratory. The construction bite should register the mandibular protrusive, vertical and lateral position determined to be optimum for starting OA therapy. Practitioners should be familiar with multiple protrusive bite acquisition tools, techniques and strategies to improve clinical efficiency. These videos demonstrate common tools and techniques for acquiring a protrusive bite for fabrication of an oral appliance.

Dr. Bell has served as a member of the AADSM Education Committee and lectures nationally on management of craniofacial pain and sleep disordered breathing.

David Flamenco, DDS is a graduate of La Universidad De La Salle, Bajío, where he concentrated his studies in esthetic dentistry. He has been a dental technician since the age of 16 years old.
