Open AirWaves Episode 7: Tech Talk: DSM Edition
Guest: Aaron Glick, DDS, DABDSM
Aired: January 9, 2026
Overview

Increased access and affordability of technological innovations are impacting all facets of OSA patient management. This podcast episode explores the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs) on both medical and dental care pathways needed for screening, diagnosing, and treating.  As the field moves beyond traditional analog methods, new technologies, such as 3D printing, virtual assistants and diagnostic home wearables, are drastically reducing costs and expanding access to care.

This discussion with Dr. Aaron Glick explores how integrating these tools can help dental sleep practitioners transition into high-tech partners in the multidisciplinary management of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Objectives
At the conclusion of this podcast episode, attendees will be able to:
  • Contrast diagnostic, screening and efficacy testing reliability of traditional polysomnography (PSG) against emerging alternatives like PAT/PPG-based wearables and remote “nearables”.
  • Consider treatment innovations for OSA, such as external negative pressure and hypoglossal nerve stimulation, and their potential to improve patient outcomes through more collaborative care.
  • Assess the current and future impact of medical regulations and evolving chairside 3D printing technologies and dental sleep medicine care pathways.
  • Identify ways to implement AI-based technologies into practice management systems to improve efficiency, support marketing and improve patient-to-dental clinic interfaces.
Target Audience
Dental sleep medicine practitioners (dentists and hygienists), medical sleep clinicians, and multidisciplinary OSA care teams who are interested in leveraging AI, digital diagnostics, and emerging technologies to modernize and expand access to obstructive sleep apnea screening and treatment.
